My father who is a young 87, became very ill towards the end of last year and thanks to my fathers practice nurse, we got a quick appointment with Dr Iftikhar Fazal at Newark hospital, who said basically my father he thought, was in heart failure. For months we had been back to his GP's on many occasion, due to his legs swelling massively, making them extremely heavy, that he became almost immobile. After a while he had shortness of breathe, severe tiredness and depression followed, he was giving up and dying in front of me and I was becoming desperate and stressed. After our first initial consultation with Dr Fazal, he made it clear, time wasn't on our hands and asked if we would be able to come to see him at The Park hospital, which was the best thing we ever did, as he needed to be seen weekly. It turned out he has heart failure, as one side of his heart was not working properly and his heavy legs was due to the amount of water building up in his body, which by now had reached his waist, so was bloated and swollen from the waist to his feet. Dr Fazal I found very professional and thorough and immediately started treatment on my father to get rid of the water. We went back weekly, then every ten days and was monitored the whole time. Within a week I could not believe the change, he lost a lot of the water and for the first time in a long time, saw my father beginning to come back to life, which continued for the coming weeks, he lost I think over a stone and half in water. My Dad will not be cured, but he can now walk and drive again, his legs are back to normal, has got back his spark back and hope next year he will still be here to walk me down the aisle. I cannot thank Dr Fazal enough, he treated him kindly, was extremely understanding and new exactly what was wrong with him, after months of banging my head on a wall and getting nowhere. I would recommend Dr Fazal without a moments hesitation to anyone, especially if you think or might have a heart problem, want a second opinion or have any of the symptoms my father had.
