Dr Iftikhar Fazal

I saw Dr Fazal in early November 2022, I had been treated by two other Cardiac consultant for the last two years for unstable Angina and given various medication to try to control it, without success. My condition was worsening and my quality of life was serverly affected. I consulted Dr Fazal after having had yet another 48hrs ECG monitor fitted, after which my pervious consultant said the problem was not something he dealt with. On my first consultation with Dr Fazal he identified the problem straightaway and told me it was urgent that I have a Pacemaker fitted as my condition was dangerous. He diagnosed me with Synous Nod Desease and Second and Tird Degree AV Block, not Angina. Two weeks later he fitted my Pacmaker and the difference I felt was almost instant. All symptoms had gone even before I let hospital and I feel like I have my life back. I previously had problems walking around the house and had fainting episodes, now I have no dizziness, breathlessness and am able to walk 1 1/2 miles. I am still regaining my full fitness, but see improvements every day. I cannot praise Dr Fazal enough for all he has done in improving my quality of life and possibly saving it.

In October 2019 I developed a rapid and irregular heart beat - atrial flutter. NHS care was vital in initially diagnosing and beginning to stabilise the condition but a circle without progress developed and after online research I contacted Dr Fazal at The Spire Hospital in late November. Dr Fazal saw me straight away and immediate progress was made through medication, an echocardiogram and then successful cardio version in early January. I have had follow up appointments during 2020 and have now been discharged. I am immensely impressed with and grateful for Dr Fazal's skill and care in treating me and for his diligence in providing advice, in person and by e-mail. My e-mails to him have always been answered very promptly and his replies have been very helpful.

I was a little anxious when I first learnt that I may need to have a Pacemaker fitted, but after my first consultation with Dr. Fazal I felt completely at ease. He took the time to explain the monitoring and tests which he carried out prior to the procedure, and detailed the procedure itself, which would be carried out under local anesthetic. I found Dr. Fazal and his Cardiology team to be truly professional, competent and caring at all times during and after my operation. I had virtually no after effects and very little discomfort.

My experience with Dr Fazal exceeded all my expectations. I found Dr Fazal’s approach really reassuring. He discussed my condition clearly and told me how the tests and procedures would be undertaken. After the tests had been completed he explained the results to me in a clear and easy to understand terms and I left feeling very confident in his diagnosis and proposed treatment.

I have recently seen Dr Fazal with a heart issue, which following consultation, and subsequent diagnosis/medication, has now been resolved to my total satisfaction. I chose to consult Dr Fazal because he had previously dealt with a problem my wife was having. After various tests and investigations, my wife was fitted with a pacemaker. This resulted in a very much improved quality of life for her. We had been impressed by the way my wife was treated, and the reassuring manner in which Dr Fazal dealt with the condition, and his follow up care. The way in which Spire Hospital staff provide an excellent, friendly service is a credit to the hospital, and is commendable. Both my wife and I would highly recommend Dr Fazal for anyone with a heart problem, and particularly anyone needing a pacemaker.
