Dr Helen McArdle

I was referred from my GP at Distington Surgery to Dr McArdle as I had been suffering with eczema on my face, particularly around my eyes, for just over one year. I had tried all the usual moisturisers and had been treated for an eye infection and used Hydrocortisone cream but this gave me little long term relief. Dr McArdle administered oral antibiotics and an antibiotic face wash to me along with Eumovate cream. It cleared up instantly before returning prior to my two week follow up appointment. I was then given a longer course of antibiotics and asked to carry on with the Eumovate for a longer period before switching to the non steroid ointment, Protopic. I am absolutely delighted with the results from this - my skin has not been this healthy in a very long time. I would not hesitate to make an appointment with Dr McArdle if it flared up again, I just wished I had went to my GP about it sooner. Thank you!

I was referred by my Dr to Dr Helen McArdle for a long standing skin problem. I had spent years trying to deal with it myself, sometimes being prescribed antibiotic's to give temporary cure/relief when required. Dr McArdle immediately put me at my ease, listened to my past experience of this problem and gently examined me. For the whole time we spent together in that 1st appointment, I felt the Dr McArdle understood and appreciated that I needed help and that's exactly what I received. The condition I had actually had a name! It was something that has been researched with help available. It was such a relief to know it was acceptable to say I needed help and it is certainly there for anyone under Dr McArdle's care. Dr McArdle spent time explaining the condition and gave me printouts to take home to help me to understand. I am now on medication which I hope will alleviate the condition and I will have follow up appointments. There are no guarantee's of complete cure but now I know the condition I have and that there is help available and that matters so much to me. My Doctor, Mr Mason of Derwent House Surgery and Dr McArdle have my sincere appreciation for being thorough, sensitive to their patients care and extending the help I needed so much. I would recommend anyone who is trying to cope with any skin related condition alone, to let your Doctor know, referral to Dr McArdle will bring you the help you may well need very much.
