To me, Dr Helen Fairgrieve helped me withdraw from Seroxat that another GP prescribed me. It took 3 years for the affect of Seroaxat to happen, myself going through bodily function changes at every milligram that I reduced. I was on this horrible medication for apx 10 years including my withdrawal. Her patience with me was of the utmost professional standard that anyone could ever want from a GP. She even used to phone me at home to see if I was ok mainly when the appointments were fully booked and or I could not get there. She always listened to me and never forced on me any medication that I didn't want. I have had mental health problem of hearing voices all my life of 63 years. She was there at every terrible happening with my health and was also the first person I told about my voices. Other doctors that my close friends saw about their voices were either sectioned or put on medication that turned them into blank, dribbling no-bodies. I am still not on hearing voice medication, she taught me that. My other health conditions of "loss of sensation in my right side, migraines and asthma" have all been helped by seeing this Doctor over probably 15 years. A listener, compassion, professional, a constant pleasant person to talk to and most of all, she has empathy, which in my life long illnesses has never been bettered by any other doctor. I cannot find in my mind anything that could better the way she worked with me within her profession as a GP. She has left our surgery within the last month to further her career. She is sadly missed by myself. Her one and only downside was that she was so important/popular as a GP at my surgery, it was impossible to get an appointment to see her some weeks due to her full appointment bookings.
