I too had been treated by Dr Lamba for over twenty years, and he kept me well, extremely well in fact and above all enabled me to live, control and manage with HIV; in fact I positively thrived under him and his support for my partner during hospital stays in I.C.U. was nothing short of showing what an incredible man he was. He listened, and understood that HIV isn’t just… well, HIV. It’s also a gateway to the body that can have strange side effects on everything. My first interaction with a new Dr today was the withdrawal of the only medicine that we found controlled my acute oral aphthous ulceration, which was thalidomide. Since running out last month I’ve had systematic bouts again and the doctor I just spoke to was unwilling to go back in my notes to find out the documentation regarding this, and refused to permit it being released (Paul had written a script for me before he left, pharmacy was waiting for bloods to release and I’m now suddenly going to be living with the hell of this again. The Doctor I just spoke at length with refused to even google ‘Thalidomide in aphthous ulcers’ which shows that incredible research has been done in this area and many studies have shown that it is indeed an off label treatment, backed by HIV professional research papers (NIH, New England Journal of Med, Science Direct, BMJ, Oxford Academic, Wiley Online Library, JAMA Network, et al ) One that also helped incidentally with ulcerative colitis and arthritis too. So… welcome to the new St Mary’s… removing a drug I thrived on that has to be exclusively scripted by a HIV doctor due to it’s possible side effects because they admitted a lack of experience and unwillingness to review the evidence and learn something new to benefit a patient. Whether I end up staying, I don’t know. It used to be a great HIV CARE centre. Now… not so much I feel. Oh well

I've had my HIV care from Dr Paul Lamba for nearly 10 years now. He's an excellent Doctor. Knows his stuff, makes an effort to understand my life and life style, and tailors his care towards that. His continued support through my addiction into my recovery was second to none. He's challenged me healthily about my choices, and always told me how impressed he was I'm the new life I made for myself in recovery. His summary letters for my GP were highly informative and showed he really knew my case well. He's a kind, caring and reassuring man, part of my life for a decade and I trust his judgements and insights. I'm sad that he's leaving the clinic. Hendrik

Dr Lamba is a man who can go an extra mile for his patients. The first time I met him I was broken!!! He gave me hope, and reason to live.just yesterday I learnt that He is stepping down , The truth is when I got the news i wasn't left the same, my anxiety struck and truth be told I shed real tears. All I can say is Thank you Dr Lamba for all you have done for the sake of humanity and you will be missed

I've been treated by Dr Lamba for over 20 years. Ever since the beginning, he gave me the feeling that he really cared He didn't make me feel like just a number, nor gave me the impression of just doing a job. He was doing his job, and very well done. I've never felt judged, never pressurised me into anything. All the opposite, he suggests and we talk. He helped me to get through a very serious illness knowing that the outcome wasn't certain. He never promised that i would get through it. Nobody could have ! Seeing his concern, his caring approach and his determination to get me through, helped me a great deal. When i can not be attended by him and any other doctor takes his place, it makes me feel very insecure
