I have been considering doing something about my varicose veins for a while when a friend recommended Mr Gajraj at the Melbury Clinic near Yeovil. I had a very thorough examination and all the options were explained in simple and straightforward terms. I made a decision there and then and booked the procedure for the following week. Everybody at the clinic was so friendly and everything was done in a calm and thoroughly professional manner. The procedure lasted about 2 hours and although I was apprehensive, I had no need to be, Mr Gajraj and his team put me at ease and explained what was going on throughout the operation (VNUS closure). The pulling sensation when the veins were physically removed was perhaps a little uncomfortable but bearable. I just kept thinking about the outcome and the good looking legs I will have later. The friendly chat and humour in the room also helped a great deal. Despite the heat outside, I was quite comfortable wearing the full length support stockings. The legs felt a bit swollen in the first few days but once the bandages came off, everything settled down nicely and I was ok to play golf again. I wore the short stockings for about 6 weeks and will consider wearing them again in the winter as they are actually very comfortable to wear. There is still a little skin discolouration where the veins have been removed but this seems to improve with every day. Even if it takes another year to completely disappear I have made the best decision in a long time. No more aching legs and everybody is commenting on how much better they look. I am so pleased with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend the Melbury Clinic and Mr Gajraj to anyone who is considering doing something about those troublesome varicose veins. H. J. I had no problem getting an appointment and I found Dr Gajraj unhurried, friendly and empathetic. He understood how difficult it is to lose weight, for one thing, and made sensible recommendations. He told me I did not need surgery (an expense avoided) but recommended what would help me (my own change of lifestyle, basically). I was concerned enough to make what was a private appointment to see him. I was pleased to have a diagnosis that I trusted and which set my mind at rest.

I first met with Dr Gajraj in August 2012 where he went through the options available to me for the treatment of the varicose veins in my right leg. As a result of the consultation, he established that there was reflux problem in my leg and he recommended the VNUS Closure for the best results. I was apprehensive about the treatment but he alleviated my concerns and was very thorough in his explanations. I left the clinic with all the literature I required about the treatment and felt under no pressure to rush into my decision. I underwent the VNUS Closure varicose vein removal treatment at the Transform Clinic in Portishead in February 2013. The treatment was performed by Dr Gajraj and his nurse, Julia. The whole process was relatively painless and I was able to walk out of the surgery the same afternoon in no real discomfort. Dr Gajraj and Julia chatted away to me all the way through the procedure and I was very impressed by their professionalism. Dr Gajraj also shared with me his mobile phone number just in case there were any complications as the clinic was shut the following day. The procedure was excellent from beginning to end. I was out walking within a few days and did not find wearing the leg support stocking a chore or too irritating. I had my post op consultation in mid March due to a forthcoming holiday and although it was "early doors", Dr Gajraj was pleased with the progress and confident of the final result. It is now nearly 6 months since I had the procedure and all the lumps have gone. There is still some discolouration but with every day that passes this is less noticeable. I am very pleased with the outcome and on reflection wish I had done it sooner. Definitely money well spent! From the age of sixteen I have always been embarrassed about my veins in my right leg. As a result I underwent stripping of the right vein ten years ago and due to developing recurrent veins thereafter I was treated by Schlerotherapy two years ago. Since this treatment the veins are still visable so I decided to give it one more shot. After researching the Vein Care Centre on the Internet I was impressed by the amount of detailed information it provided on varicose veins and the different types of treatments which were available at the clinic. I was particualty impressed by Dr Gajraj and the experence he has in this area. After visiting Dr Gajraj a few weeks ago he performed a scan on my leg which identified that I had a reflux in the lower part of my leg. It was only after this meeting that I was able to understand my problem fully and never realised that the stripping of my right vein was only performed to the middle part of my leg due to running the risk of nerve injury. Throughout the meeting I felt he was very honest and professional and listened extremely well. This has given me the confidence to go ahead and book the treatment has has given as the best option.
