What can I say about Dr Gillian Mulholland and her team. From the moment the nurse Martin met me at reception to my departure a few hours later this incredible team of health care professionals couldn't be anymore helpful or compassionate.Dr Mulholland is so down to earth and witty and put me at ease the moment I met her.I requested a few things regarding my treatment and she compassionately obliged.Every department and GP surgery should have a Dr Mulholland.

Doctor Mulholland is everything that you imagine a great health care professional should be. Knowledgeable, caring and gets things done.

I took ill on Easter 2017, recurring chest infections, which I never seem to recover from. I was off work for 2 months , went to Hairmyres for help , was looked at briefly and told I would get a letter for a scan., then sent home. I got scan some months later but was told nothing showed up. I went back to work ,but struggled with it and remained ill . I kept getting chest infections which absolutely knocked me for 6, and became very ill again just before Christmas. I was in ward 2 just before Christmas 2017, and after 4 days a diagnosis of Pleurisy was reached. I believe this was the wrong diagnosis, as I remain very ill. I was discharged with antibiotics which done nothing, remained quite ill and went back seeking help at New Year. I was kept in A&E all night, told I would be kept in , then told there were no beds and let out in the morning with more Antibiotics which again done nothing. I also told by consultant that I would get follow up appointment at Respiratory, I heard nothing , phoned clinic and told I wasn't on waitng list. I took quite ill one night , trouble with breathing, nausea ,vomiting, very high temp, crushing chest pains , mostly on left side. I went to A&E when I felt fit enough , was given an ECG , had heart sounded and told sternly that, "THIS WAS A&E." as if I wasn't meant to be there and promptly sent home. I felt like a begger. My GP was contacted and I am now on waiting list for respiratory clinic. I have been attending my own GP throughout, and not sure how to treat whatever this is has tried various things but to no avail. I was well cared for in ward 2 , all the staff were great, but because of that diagnosis I rested and waited for it to lift and it never happened. I remain off work , utterly exhausted by this and losing interest in everything. I haven't had a single day when I am not in severe pain , or feeling breathless and very sick. I am being woken after a few hours sleep ,struggling to breath, sore head and dizziness, it's very distressing, I feel as if I've been gassed. I am an ex smoker and drinker of nearly 13 years . I was a very keen cyclist until I fell ill , my illness has stopped me in my tracks. I would like someone at Hairmyres to reassess my case. I write this out of shear desperation. Kind regards Brian Cummiskey
