I had a serious complaint about my care and I was referred to Giles Harborne in his capacity as Chief of Staff. He would barely reply to my correspondence, was incredibly arrogant and rude and refused to meet me unless a 'service user representative' was present. I had no need of such a thing so Harborne refused to meet me at all. My complaint remained uninvestigated and unresolved. Some months later a close friend was also referred to Harborne in the wake of another serious complaint. Harborne wrote a series of arrogant, irrelevant letters and refused to meet the complainant. That complaint too went uninvestigated and unresolved. The Health Board that employs Giles Harborne is now in special measures because of the huge problems with its mental health services, which says it all.

I have worked with Dr Harborne for many years. He is an excellent clinician. He is knowledgeable and cares about his patients. I would not hesitate at all to suggest him as a psychiatrist to my family and friends.

Dr Harborne would be better suited to research than actually seeing patients. I don't really think he has ever been comfortable talking to patients and he basically ignores them when they are sat there, he prefers to talk about them to their CPNs or their Social worker! He is rather posh and to be honest he just seems out of touch with people from other backgrounds. He is very guarded and not very sociable with his patients. If he does care he hides it very well. I am not the only person who thinks this so I feel justified in this honest review.
