Dr Feras Mustafa, while providing his input for a patient admitted to acute medicine department in NGH, helped the MDT in a professional way. He was approachable and supportive in doing that. For me, as acute medicine consultant, was an exciting experience to work with such a nice consultant psychiatrist .

I have known and worked with Dr Mustafa for approximately 7 and a half years within the Acute Liaison Mental Health Service. As such I have been able to develop a strong working relationship with him over this time and have found him to be a excellent colleague to work alongside. Dr Mustafa has consistently shown his qualities as a respected, professional, knowledgeable practitioner whom works with integrity and honesty. I have no doubts in my mind that Dr Mustafa works whilst holding the needs of the patient at the forefront of his thinking. He demonstrates his ability to work collaboratively with the team and offer support and guidance in particular with complex cases and shows strong leadership with advocating for patients needs and confronting colleagues within and outside of the team if standards of care fall short. I find Dr Mustafa’s willingness to be a team player and uplift colleagues with regards to his own knowledge and experience a quality attribute and one that helps nurture junior and inexperienced staff. What continues to impress is that he has been able to achieve this level of working whilst still being repeatedly under resourced. Which in one part is a concern regarding his workload and navigating multiple systems. I believe that because of the above ALMHS continues to have a strong, clear, consistent and contained presence in the form of Psychiatry which ensures the effective running of the service and high-quality provision of care for patients.

I worked with Dr Mustafa in my quality as a higher trainee in psychiatry, mostly during mental health act assessments. Dr Mustafa is always punctual and prepared for Mental Health Act Assessments (MHAA). He is a skilled and competent practitioner who can adapt how he communicates to ensure that the wishes of individuals are acknowledged. He is client centred and actively listens to all involved in the process. Dr Mustafa is a kind, caring practitioner whose knowledge base is extensive who has earned the respect of all who have the privilege of working with him.
