Dr Emma Watts has been my GP for over 10 years, she has always listened and respected me as a person. When she has been treating me for chronic conditions she changes drugs if there is a problem and tries hard to come to a compromise if it is possible. On a sensitive issue a few years ago with a consultant she was able to resolve the situation with another doctor colleague at Shere surgery. Several times she has phoned me at home after a worrying health issue quite spontaneously to find out how I was coping. This indicates to me a genuine concern for patients. I believe I am very fortunate to be under the care of an intelligent, thoughtful and trustworthy professional. I am reassured that I can speak to her in an open way and she always understands that I wish to take part in the decision making process even though I respect her views and ability as a GP.

Emma had a lot of knowledge about my contraceptive choices which I have not found at the other doctor surgeries I’ve previously been registered at. She was very friendly and gave me a lot of confidence in my choice.

Emma is the best GP I have ever had. She was the one that originally told me the lumps on my arm were something serious, turned out to be Lymphoma. She was amazing all the way through my care and called to see if I was ok. Highly recommend her.

Aside from special interests, I have an absolute belief in the strength of General Practice being about continuity of care. Irrespective of any political directions otherwise, I truly believe we serve our patients best by knowing them, their history, their family, their social and support set up, and their living needs. In my opinion anyone who thinks General Practice can be effectively delivered by a 5 minute video consult on a smart phone, with no knowledge of the patient, has frankly missed the point of General Practice. I will fight these 'developments' to best serve my patients. I will, however, try to embrace technology advances wherever possible, in order to enhance patient care, but only when continuity of care is part of the offering.
