I am a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with a clinical interest in pelvic floor surgery and proctology, functional bowel disorders such as fecal incontinence and constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal oncology and minimally invasive surgery. My clinical practice is at Imperial College NHS Trust (at Charing Cross Hospital, The Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary's Hospital) and my academic practice is at Imperial College in London. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine with a 1st Class BSc and MBBS in 2004 and was supported by a Royal College of Surgeons fellowship during my PhD in neurogastroenterology at Queen Mary University of London in 2016. I underwent surgical training first in the London North West region and then in the London North East region as a NIHR Clinical Lecturer and was granted entry to the specialist register in 2019. I undertook post CCT fellowships at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Poitiers, Poitiers, France before my current appointment to Imperial College in London. My academic interests focus on physiological phenotyping of functional gastrointestinal disorders and development of novel investigations of lower gastrointestinal function, particularly high-resolution anorectal manometry. I am a member of several international guideline groups for management of functional bowel disorders. I am an experienced teacher and have designed and delivered training courses both in the United Kingdom and internationally. I greatly enjoy mentoring medical students, academics, and junior doctors and strive to inspire surgeons of the future through educational activities which empower deep learning and personal growth. Most importantly, I am a passionate advocate for the individual and firmly believe in a personalized, compassionate, patient-centered approach to healthcare.
