Dr Emma Dunn takes her hippocratic oath very seriously. She is dedicated and goes above and beyond while taking of her patients. Ive been under her joint care since 2005 and I can’t repay her kindness as a person and thoroughness as a doctor. I was admitted for 8 weeks in J49 and the nurses and housekeeping staff were marvellous.

J49 (renal) Staff. Nurses, domestics were all fantastic when it comes to caring for patients and I received all the very best available all round.. I had the scans and found to be clear of clots and infection and therefore this was ruled out as cause for shortness of breath and pains in the chest. Then came the bad news which kinda knocked me off my feet for somebody not quite used to being in hospital or being so poorly. It turns out my lungs are screwed. . They have deterioration that cannot be stopped or reversed by medical treatment. The proccess can be slowed down by having help at home to ease the strain of daily chores and I was asked to stay longer until Leeds could contact pontefract and get something sorted. My only groan is that the admin side of it could have been very much handled better between Pontefract (Mid Yorks) and St James to sort out improvement for home situation so that I was not going home to same bad situation without any home help and upgraded oxygen type. I spent another 5 days twiddling my thumbs, bored silly and taking up a bed that somebody could have been using. During and at the end of these five days, They had not got any improvement made to go home to and discharge was being talked about. I could not wait to get home, even back to same bad situation because at least I would be in better position to get things sorted for myself. I am very angry and annoyed at the admin side of my stay for failing to make any improvement before discharge. I left abruptly withholding my anger as I left by some of the admins. Once again.. the nurses and domestics.. treated me with great care and respect. Cant thank you all enough.. I hope I end up on J49 again under your care if the need arises in the future.. Ya all know who this is.. cheers folks. Admins. I have a few choice words for you the next time we meet.. buck up your ideas for the job at hand. .. cheers for trying but you failed me big style.

My doctor since my first time in hospital back in early 2015. Great kidney - renal doctor and would trust my life with her. Attended outpatient appointment with this doctor jan 7th 2016 for my ongoing kidney artery treatment , inflamed (rare vasculitis) and she could see me struggle to breath and kept me in for test at Leeds St James Hospital. Within few days we found that we could rule out any clots an the heart was 100% okay. No chest infection in sight . . so all good news so far.. Then I got slapped in the face hard with bad news that my lungs were deteriorating and no way back for them or any medical treatment to stop the deterioration. . Only way forward was to accept a little home help and slow things down to ease the shortness of breath and also try for upgrade type of portable oxygen from present tanks. Doctor Emma Dunn did all she could to help with this and we thought best to stay a little longer in hospital until home situation had been made better. After 5 more days and no improvement in sight due to hospital/ward admins not doing their job and unable to communicate correctly with Mid yorks trust to help the situation.. The whole thing was a failed experience and I was left sat twiddling my thumbs and taking a bed up for nothing for nearly a week. . I should have just gone home after scan results and sorted it all from home myself. . Not the doctors fault and I was very well looked after on the ward (J49) by nurses and domestics but am very dissapointed in the admin side of things. I had a very abrupt discharge and left feeling quite angry at the outcome because I was going back to the same situation that was not helping me at all.
