Having had a splenectomy as a child, I have to be careful that any bacterial infections are nipped in the bud quickly. For this to be possible without going to A&E the local GP must be able to see you immediately. The Hollytree Surgery does NOT run an appointment system but rather simply ensures that anyone who turns up gets seen. THIS IS A GREAT SYSTEM - DO NOT CHANGE IT! Dr Collyer is always attentive to the possibility of emergency but at the same time calm; she listens, is open, and explains properly. She takes follow-up seriously. On the occasions I have dealt with her she has been excellent. The latest involving an infection which might have turned nasty but which she had tackled within a few hours following consultation with a microbiologist. Thank you Dr Collyer!
