Dr Elin Pugh is the Lead Safeguarding practitioners at Bron Seiont Surgery. I requested copies of my sons medical records as legislated under The Data Protection Act 1988 with a SAR (Subject Access Request). Dr Pugh gave the practice manager advice which contradicted the law and breached my confidentiality. Confidentiality is a vital part of the patient/parent/GP relationship and the BMA has strict guild lines which Dr Pugh doesn't follow and as the lead safeguarding practitioner gives unlawful advice to direct the practice. I suggest that Dr Pugh refreshes herself in the law so that she can deliver the service she is appointed to deliver. It makes me question wether Dr Pugh is the correct person to act in this capacity and indeed if she breaches confidentiality and recommends her practice does the same should she be trusted in her daily role as a GP?
