Dr Duncan Robertson qualified MBChB from Edinburgh University in 1985 NHS and Army General Practitioner 1991-2014. Completed CESR training programme in 2010 and become a GMC-Registered Sports & Exercise Medicine Specialist in 2011. Dr Robertson is the Medical Director and Sports Medicine Specialist at the Fylde Sports Injury Clinic (FYSICL) in Kirkham. FYSICL is registered with the CQC and is open to regular inspection and must meet all their national standards for safe and effective healthcare. In addition Dr Robertson combines FYSICL with other consultant roles: British Athletics (Tokyo 2020 Olympics), Fleetwood Town FC (Club Doctor), The Womends FA and Bupa Musculoskeletal clinics. Duncan is experienced in a wide range of sports, training and exercise-related injuries, and treats all age grups and all levels fromyouth sport to elite professional athletes - as well as any older patients with joint pain or injury who are still trying to stay active. In addition, I am a Level 1 musculoskeletal (msk) sonographer (Qualified Lancaster University 2006), and have published several articles on this subject and taught and lectured widely. I will assess and manage the whole range of sports and musculoskeletal/activity-related injuries. If you have another injury not specifically listed in my "areas of interest" below, please phone and enquire. When conservative management is not working, where indicated, I can offer ultrasound-guided procedures/injections to promote recovery and symptom control; this includes CORTISONE (anti-inflammatory and pain relief); PROLOTHERAPY; LARGE VOLUME INJECTIONS FOR TENDINOPATHY; HYALURONIC ACID anti-inflammatory injections. I work hand in hand with our excellent physiotherapists at the clinic - where indeed we also have the provision of a BIODEX dynanmometer to assist assessments of joint injury and support post suriery rehabilitation. I also collaborate with other local physiotherpaists and orthopaedic surgeons and radiology services to ensure that the best options are laid out for your diagnosis and recovery, and help assess and prepare patients prior to any potential surgery. Personal Background As well as wide range of experience treating injured military personnel over 21 years, I have worked in elite sport.
