When our daughter was 2 weeks old, we admitted to the manor as she had breathing difficulties and weight loss. While we was there she was diagnosed with a heart murmur. When we asked Dr Ferdinand about the heart murmur she clearly stated she hadnt got one.

Response from Dr Drusilla Ferdinand

I was sorry that you found your clinic appointment less than helpful. Sometimes we hear heart murmurs in babies which are “innocent” and that they can disappear or come and go. The reason for bringing your daughter back to clinic for a review was to see if the murmur was persisting. When I listened to her heart there was no murmur present. This can be due to babies changing as they grow. Also, in some children we can hear a murmur which can come and go which is due the blood going round a normal heart, similar to hearing water in your radiator or pipes. I am sorry that this wasn’t made clear to you on your visit to clinic and hope that this explains things further. If you have any other questions about this matter please contact my secretary on 01922 656880. Dr. Drusilla Ferdinand.
