I have to say that I found Miss Egbeare to be one of the warmest and most friendly Consultants I have ever seen. She completely put me at ease and was very thorough with her review of my case and the results of the scans that had been undertaken by the radiologist at Farnham hospital. Miss Egbeare performed an examination and was very gentle and very clear and reassuring with her comments. The follow up letter arrived very quickly and was also very clearly written. I would have no hesitation in recommending Miss Egbeare to another patient.

Ms Egbeare immediately put me at ease. She explained the situation clearly and in a manner I could easily understand. I was presented with two options to consider and she provided me with guidance so that I could come to a decision myself. During my appointment, she gave all her attention to me and I did not feel at all rushed. This was such a contrast to other encounters I have had (not in this hospital) with consultants who either talk down to their patients or like to display their technical knowledge by using terminology inaccessible to the average patient.

I have had a very good experience at Frimley Park Hospital throughout my treatment for breast cancer which was discovered by routine mammogram. Everyone I saw from the unit in Tesco's carpark, the Jarvis Centre, the Macmillan nurses, the lumpectomy , and radiotherapy follow up at St Luke's was efficient, positive, friendly and I was never afraid to ask questions or get further information (which was rarely needed as every step was fully explained). Full marks to the whole team! My appointment this week with Dr Egbeare, which was for the year's anniversary follow up was in keeping with the aforementioned. She arranged for me to have a blood test for Vitamin D level, and I had a letter from her 2 days later to reassure me it was normal, as was the tumour markers. Great service.

My little granddaughter has to have regular MRI scan (following a brain tumour) and when my daughter sees the Consultant the first thing he says it 'the scan is all clear' which is a relief. When we saw Miss Donna Egbeare at Frimley Park to receive the results of my biopsy, ultrasound and mammogram I was given details of my breast and how it works etc: and it felt ages before I was told all was alright. I feel the patient should be told straight away if the results are OK. I hope this feedback is useful.

Response from Miss Donna Egbeare

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you felt I had taken a long time in the consultation to communicate to you your results were normal. I appreciate it is a very anxious time. I do explain things about the breast and how it changes as often patients want to understand a bit more about what might have caused their symptoms and why they have needed a biopsy, but I will ensure I make it clear if results are reassuring at the beginning of a consultation.

I found Miss Egbeare extremely helpful and answered fully my concerns, she put me totally at ease and reassured when I met her at Farnham Hospital recently. She recommended taking evening primrose oil which I have taken on board. Frimley Park Hospital were very efficient and friendly with the mammogram and ultra sound appointments prior to seeing Miss Egbeare.
