This doctor outrageously told me that feeling depressed was 'part of being a woman'. She also refused me hormone tests when I felt like something was very wrong with my body after coming of hormonal birth control. She actually told me that there was no such test- I have no idea why. I sought a second opinion and another doctor ordered blood tests. Lo and behold I was diagnosed with PCOS, showing high levels of androgens and confirmed by a scan. Several years later, I have also been diagnosed with endometriosis. Trust your own instincts if you feel something is not right, and do not let this doctor make you feel small. Looking back, I am appalled that I did not complain at the time- Dr Weil should be ashamed of her behaviour which could prevent people from seeking the right help.
