Everyone who needs a doctor deserves great care. Undoubtedly, doctors vary in the care they provide but, to some like Dr Mittal, caring passionately for his patients comes naturally. This is a God given gift which many do not possess. It requires empathy, good communication and professionalism. I have known Dr Mittal for 16 years. His approach to patients and parents is an example for both senior and junior alike. On many occasions he has worked ‘over and above’ what is expected of him. He ‘chips in’ to help both consultants and juniors when there are shortages of staff in the department. He has wide knowledge of paediatrics and always keeps up with new developments. Nursing staff, doctors and patients trust him and have a high regard for him. He exhibits humblity and gets on extremely well with everybody. I for one feel that when he is on duty children are safe. I also believe that he is a paediatrician who is under-rated and not valued as he should be. I would commend him to the public unreservedly. Walsall is lucky to have him and I hope that he continues to play an active role for many years to come.
