David came to visit me on the ward before my hip replacement last week. He was very friendly, explained what was going to happen pre and post operatively and asked about any of my concerns. I was quite anxious but David made me feel I was in safe, professional hands. On arrival in theatre David was again friendly and he and his colleague explained everything they were doing which was so reassuring. I remember most, a happy time recalling old memories of Worthing Hospital theatres and its occupants as I trained there in the 1980’s and remembered all the same people as David. It completely took away my anxiety and the next minute I was waking up! Keep doing what you are doing David, it worked for me!

I felt completely safe and comfortable. Dr, Uncles was my anaesthetist when I had my first hip operation last November and I was so pleased he would be there for my second hip. He listens to any worries or concerns and makes suggestions as to what is best. He is kind cring and completely professional. One of the best.

With having just a basic understanding of Anaesthetics and never having had an operation before, I had been given conflicting views from people I know who had recently had the same operation I was due to undergo. I was very unsure on which procedure I should choose. After speaking with Dr Uncles, who visited me the morning of my operation, I chose the Spinal Anaesthetic procedure, this was agreed with Dr Uncles and we thought that this would be the best choice for me. This was I now know to be the best choice. The next time that I saw him was in the pre-op room where he prepared me for the operation, settling me during the whole time and explaining everything that was going on at that time and also everything that would be happening during the operation. Dr Uncles then further visited me a couple of days after the operation to see how in my view everything had gone. I felt that he had a real interest in my welfare and I was totally involved along the whole procedure.

I felt safe and listened to. Dr Uncles and his colleague were both professional and informative throughout my care with them. I felt well very quickly after waking from the anaesthesia and had no unpleasant after effects.
