I really don’t get the 1/1.5 star reviews - its like they are seeing a completely different doctor than what I’ve seen! Yes he is busy, so is the rest of the NHS and teaching is a significant part of what he does in terms of imparting his knowledge and way of working on to the next generation. He has ALWAYS listened to me, has always allowed me to discuss my condition of AS and we’ve had meaningful consultations where he explains things clearly, listens to me and we can have a brief discussion about treatments, my situation and moving forward. I cannot stress enough how much I rate his as a doctor and as a compassionate, caring human being that clearly knows what his field is and how to convey and conduct a suitable care plan.

He used to be a good consultant but now he's too busy teaching. He doesn't listen to his patients. His nursing staff often comment on the fact he's not in touch with his patients He believes Ankylosing Spondylitis and PSA only seem to affect men which is unbelievable in this day and age. I have AS and now PSA. I also told him it ran in my family to which he told me doesn't happen. If you do your own research you can see it does sometimes run in families. As well as this I was told I wouldn't end up with IBD or any other issues even though I'm HLA-B27 positive. I now have IBD with both ulcerative colitis and crohns. I also have heart issues related to inflammation which he said wouldn't happen and did. I unfortunately no longer trust him as a consultant. He cares more about his papers and teaching than his patients. And he should go back to basics and remember where he started and how to treat his patients. I know many of his patients through support groups and also via meeting them at clinic. Unfortunately alot of us feel the same and feel we need a new consultant that's in charge of our care. I wish he would stop ignoring what his patients tell him and actually listen to them. Stop blaming things on depression or on weight. I weigh 8 stone and he still trys to tell me that I should exercise and try loose a few pounds and I may feel better. Please take a good hard look at yourself and go back to basics. Remember why you became a Dr and especially in rheumatology. Sprouting facts and papers doesn't help your patient. We are in these bodies suffering not you and you need to take your patients seriously.

I've been seeing Dr Crosbie for a while now due to Ank Spond. He has always listened to me and I've always been able ot have reasonable medical conversations with him as I have researched things myself and have a solid understanding of my condition and where it is going. He has always been able to direct me to things to help and has always taken into consideration my thoughts and feelings about things. I find the reviews where they are negative somewhat perplexing as his bedside manner is second-to-none in my opinion and perhaps it shows more about the patient than the doctor!

Dr Crosbie’s manner was somewhat arrogant. He seems to believe himself to be a tour de force on all things rheumatological when in reality, like the rest of us, he is always learning. He didn’t appear to want to listen or look at the information in front of him, instead packing me off with a frankly bizarre and nonsensical diagnosis, if the hypothesis even merits the terminology. Was he bright and eloquent? Yes. Did it matter a jot? No. Do I feel desperate and hopeless regarding last week’s consultation? Absolutely. I am back to square one, or more likely, the knackers’ yard. I am spent, I have given up on inadequacy and a blatant disregard for extreme, debilitating pain.

Very knowledgeable man in all aspects of rheumatology. Nice, caring man with a lot of time to explain things to you and listen to you. Very speedy at arranging follow up scans, X-rays, bloods, prescriptions etc.
