He was condescending, dismissive and rude throughout my consultation. I left questioning my own sanity and have complained, requesting another consultation with somebody else with more empathy, compassion and people skills. Do not pay to see this Dr and if you are assigned him through the NHS, take somebody else to your appointment with you as his abrupt nature can throw you off and stop you demanding the service you need.

Avoid !!!!! Awful experience with Dr Barnes today at Ashford Hospital. Have been experiencing extremely bad headaches for a couple of months , especially the last few weeks, and my GP referred me for an MRI, however unfortunately I had to have a consultation with him first.. he had no time for me, no sympathy, and quite honestly, was pig rude. Asking me the most confusing, strangest, unnecessary questions about the future, and laughed about the fact the GP has requested an MRI scan for brain cancer… and told me that “it will obviously come back normal “, which I truly hope so! He had no suggestions as to why I was experiencing what I was experiencing, just wanted to put me on medication for 6 months without finding out the source of the issue. It felt like I was in an intimidating job interview. There were also 2 student doctors there, and it actually felt like he was showing off to them by being so abrupt to me.

Dr Barnes is a superb Neurologist. I had been suffering from headaches for over two months, every day and night. Keeping from sleep and giving me horrible days. I had been back and forward with the GPs and finally asked for a referral to Dr Barnes specifically (Private) From the first consultation he was superb. Asked me many questions and informed me about why he was asking. Very quickly concluded my headaches were no more serious as a musculoskeletal condition so suggested I see a specific Physiotherapist he knew who would probably sort me out. Ordered an MRI to rule out anything else, but he reassured me this was unlikely in his opinion. Well....went to see Kim at Weybridge Physiotherapy and after ONE session - no headaches. It was postural, she centred my neck, gave me some massage therapy, some exercises and sent me off!! I was amazed. I went back next week for another session, some more exercises and ever since, no headaches. Went back to Dr Barnes for the MRI feedback, nothing to report and we parted. I have seen a lot of consultants and Dr David Barnes is one of the best of what a consultant should be. Knowledgeable, Reassuring, Interested in getting to know your specific issues. Communicative.
