Mr Armstrong is very friendly, approachable and made me feel at ease from the beginning. He listened to my concerns and was very informative about what was wrong and the options available to me, I was show video imagery of the surgery I was to receive as well as being given time to think about the options available. Since my initial consultation, through surgery and at follow up I have felt safe and greatly cared for and would most definitely seek his great expertise in the future if required.

I was referred to Mr Armstrong for Carpal tunnel problems within my right hand. There are simply NOT enough superlatives to describe the quality of treatment that I have received from Mr Armstrong. I struggle to recall meeting someone with such a 'no nonsense', 'can do' attitude as him! At my initial consultation I was immediately struck by how positive he was with me. He listened to my account of symptoms which were quite severe as I had left seeking medical help way too long and he recommended surgery as the most appropriate course of action. He was concerned about the level of nerve damage that I had caused myself and booked me in for an endoscopic procedure within the following two weeks! Throughout the procedure, Mr Armstrong explained each step to me inviting me to observe what he was doing on a monitor within the theatre. He made the general atmosphere within the theatre feel relaxed and light hearted but always professional and it was quite clear that the qualities of his character radiated onto his staff. Within twelve days of the procedure I again saw Mr Armstrong in order for him to assess my rate of recovery and remove my stitches. I am pleased to say that I am recovering very quickly, no doubt as a direct result of Mr Armstong's skilful surgery and the low level of impact the endoscopic procedure had on me compared to the conventional method! I strongly recommend that anyone with hand problems see Mr Armstrong and choose the endoscopic procedure too! A very 'Well done' and sincerest heart felt thank you Mr Armstrong.

Mr.Armstrong has performed two carpal tunnel procedures on me and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He put me totally at easy and explained the procedure clearly. Both procedures were performed quickly and smoothly and I even had the opportunity to view what he was doing halfway through, which was fascinating.

Dan was the second consultant I saw following a diagnosis of Kienbock's disease, and a pretty poor experience with the first consultant I met. Dan was extremely knowledgeable about the condition and restored hope in me that there were options to be explored to manage it. He is very personable, made me felt at ease throughout all appointments and operations, and thanks to him, I am now symptom free I cannot recommend Dan enough and will be forever grateful to him for his overall approach and expertise.

Profile

I am a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby. My practice is entirely Hand and Wrist problems and I have a large proportion of tertiary referral work for complex issues. I also have an interest in minimally invasive surgery - endoscopic carpal and cubital tunnel release, Xiapex/Collagenase, Needle Aponeurotomy etc.

I underwent orthopaedic training in the Trent Region, gaining the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) exam. I have undertaken specialist training in Derby, Nottingham and Oxford where I was the National Hand Fellow. I have been examined in, and passed, the British Post Graduate hand Diploma.
