Dr Cottingham is a man who always appears to be prepared to listen to your views, and comments, about your own problems. He always appears to have a busy workload, but is prepared to give you all the time you need to explain your health problem(s). When you have finished your explanation, he will advance his views on how he sees the way forward, and will ask for your opinion. If you feel unsure about a particular point, he will listen to what you say - and maybe explain further.
If, finally, you are not happy about something, he will accede to whatever sensible , albeit contrary, view you may have - and suggest a reasonable period of time to check whether you may be right, or not. It is always a responsible, and reasonable compromise. He always tries to involve you, as a patient, in the decision-making process, as opposed to the old-fashioned adage of, "I am the doctor, therefore I must be right!"
An excellent doctor.
