I was in a bad way and Dr Lewis not only found out what had happened, because my heart does not conform in a way that it should, and a vsd had occurred on an artery. He said they were unable to do anything about it at Papworth but referred me to St Thomas in London, they initially refused to see me as they didn't think there was anything they could do but Dr Lewis persisted and got them to see me. Fortunately a Colleague of Dr Lewis in London arranged surgery for me and I was saved. If it was not for Dr Lewis,s efforts I wouldn't be here writing this. His calm and sympathetic was means as much as his fantastic ability in his work.
