I think Dr Chris Tiplady is one of the nicest and kindest consultants that I have met. He put me totally at ease. He took time to listen to me and to answer any questions that I put to him. He has been extremely thorough in trying to get to solve my symptoms. I was in and out of the clinic in 50 mins which was excellent considering that I had my blood taken and it being a busy department. The clinic seemed to be very well run and organised and all of the staff were very friendly and efficient. Eleanor Watson

Dr Tiplady listens, is interested and is very open. He showed me my test results on his computer screen and explained them clearly and without patronising me.

I have been attending the ODU at North Tyneside hospital for the last two years and the care I have received from Dr Tiplady and the whole team has been wonderful. I tell everyone about the unit and the way the consultants and nurses work together to provide a positive experience.

Great consultant and team at the oncology department. Couldn't speak highly enough of them. First rate service.

Recently discharged by the lovely Dr Tiplady after a few years. Thq. The haem dept has been wonderful at working in tandem with many others for effects from my BC cancer treatment (in my case). Quietly vigilant. There are few things I want to recall about chemo in 2009 but being visited by Dr Williams quite late one evening while an inpatient, having a (painless) lumbar test by Dr Tiplady, and bumping into David many many times as I make my way between appointments, I remember well. Not everyone has the gift, but you all do. Thq.

Thank you for all the lovely comments, I passed them on to David and Dr Williams too. I am very lucky to work with them both.

Profile

I am a general haematologist seeing patients with a wide range of blood and thrombosis related problems.
We work very closely as a team in Northumbria to make sure everyone is well supported in the hospital, the out-patients and the day units. So you will meet other members of this wider team when you are with us.
My special interest is in Medical Education and you are likely to see students or other doctors with me in the clinics.
I discuss this side of my job on Twitter where you can find me as @christiplady
Please do tell me how both myself and the service can improve or where we do well, your feedback is always welcome.
