This GP came across as very uncaring and quite patronising. He put a negative spin on everything I said. It was all doom and gloom. He was extremely dismissive. The whole thing was very unpleasant. I only ask for a polite and sympathetic GP. Maybe he IS polite and friendly with his other colleagues..? I don't doubt it. But with all due respect, how can someone review him as a GP when you have not had the experience of him being your GP? Doctors can be very different with patients than they are with colleagues. I speak from experience. I suspect a bit of damage control going on here. Anyway, my experience was very negative. I will not be seeing this particular doctor again. On a positive note, the receptionists were lovely, and the waiting times were minimal.

Every time I tried to speak, this doctor shut me down and talked over me. He also came across as unsympathetic. He spoke to me as if I was a naughty child. I actually left his office in tears, and it takes a lot to upset me. I've never had such a negative experience with a GP. I would not recommend this doctor.

Please note that I am not a member of staff at Elmbank Surgery regarding the previous comment nor a patient. I am an independent health care professional and have interacted with Dr Provan upon that basis.

I believe that Dr Provan has been always been considerate and compassionate, I do not agree with the previous comment and he is clinically up to date and a sound doctor. I assert that he practices medicine from his heart. I have known him both as a patient and a colleagately, and at a professional level I recognise that we all make mistakes and rectify.

He just looks fed up with the whole thing, says the same things every time he sees you. I think there is a human being in there but he's stuck in a certain way of being and just doesn't connect or show any empathy. I don't get the feeling he would go out of his way. Impossible to get an appointment any time soon with this surgery. My old surgery, friendlier, kinder, more human and you could get an appointment in a reasonable length of time and at least you felt cared for.
