I would describe Dr Marguerie as a caring, holistic Rheumatologist, who will treat your symptoms as well as your concerns. You may see another specialist who will want to operate on your Polymyalgia (as in my case - and who I allowed to on one shoulder - to little effect), before I saw Chris Marguerie. He advised me not to have another operation, and over a period of 12 months, cured me.
I have recommended him to two friends with similar histories - one is now on the mend, having seen him and the other is still in discomfort, being treated by his GP with Steroid injections. (He may well end up seeing Dr Margurie - I hope so)
I cannot believe some of these reviews, I have been seeing Dr Marguerie since late 2011, at that point I had difficulty walking, using my hands & in intense pain.
He very carefully examined me & prescribed a course of drugs that within 48 hours worked exactly as he said, relieving pain & discomfort.
I have been attending his clinic ever since & always find him caring, courteous & willing to listen.
I thank God that I was able to see him initially as I could have had a very different outcome.
Please take no notice of some of these reviews & see for yourself !
I first saw this dr in 2015 with pain in back and hips. After a couple of private consults in Stratford and Nuffield. He indicated I may have a spondylitis condition and put me on some tablets.
After Mentioning this to my insurance company, they said they could not cover any chronic conditions. I then with the advice of a consultant friend requested to see him on nhs. 14 months later I finally attended the appointment and was very upset that not only did he say that he never indicated this -(even though I have it in writing) he would not listen to anything I had to say, the student was more interested and ask to examine me,but he couldn’t wait to get me out of his room, he even opened the door to show me out .... in tears. Next appointment January 2018!!!
I have had a variety of undiagnosed symptoms for almost 10 years, until today. I found my appointment with Dr Marguerie very productive. Dr Marguerie is an exceptional doctor and knows how to ask the right questions, to be concise and clear when explaining details.
My experience was certainly improved by having prepared extensivley for this appointment (I had done a thorough review of all my past symptoms, but focussing on my current problems and the investigations carried out previously and sent this in letter form to Dr Marguerie ahead of the appointment. I also brought a detailed list of questions to ensure I wouldn't forget anything). Doctor Marguerie was very polite, was open to any of my questions, systematically went through every detail and was very clear about what his specialism was and what wasn't.
His patient care is exceptional and sadly unusual. I have had experiences previously where doctors became very defensive or weren't even prepared to listen.
For anyone with longstanding health issues that fall within Rheumatology, I highly recommend to see Doctor Marguerie. However, make sure you prepare well for your appointment, write a list of what you need to talk about and any questions, so you cannot forget anything and do not hesitate to ask about anything you do not understand. Appointments always feel short, however, properly managed by the doctor and the patient, they can be successful. Many thanks and good luck!
I absolutely cannot believe the reviews I have just read ,surely cannot be the same dr
Chris Marguerie that I have seen for the last few years. He is most caring and
reassuring doctor I have ever known.
I feel privileged to be able to be his patient. Maureen Wilkes 22 August 2016
