When I first met Dr. Hayward I was put at ease by his very reassuring manner. He explained that I would be sedated and what would happen during the procedure. I was very comfortable throughout the whole visit, (unlike a previous colonoscopy which was done in a different department), and was looked after in a very professional manner by all of the team. The aftercare was also of a very high standard. I was very impressed with my care and it is very reassuring to know that everyone helping me were on top of their work. He is excellent. He knows his field & understands IBD suffers are looking for reduction of their suffering & facilitation of a full/fuller life. He will do what is best for the patient, & most times in my experience that matches with what the patient wants.

I was recently admitted to Derriford under Dr Hayward with a severe flare up of Crohn's Disease. I received excellent care for the 7 days I was there from my Consultant, Dr Hayward and nursing staff. I was very impressed with the ladies who dealt with the food especially as I have very special dietrary needs being Coeliac as well as having Chrohn's. I was also impressed with the cleaners and the cleanliness of the hospital. All in all I would say that I would not have recovered as well with out this care.

I met Dr Hayward at an outpatient appnt for the first time in January. I have seen many Consultants over the years some good and some not so good, but was very happy with the explanation Dr Hayward gave me. I felt as if I was being listened to at last and that my problems although may not vanish with the change of medication and other factors may improve. Dr Hayward was very genuine and knew exactly the right thing to say to a patient to make them feel more positive about themselves. I would certainly recommend him to anybody else suffering a long term gastro problem.

I moved to Cornwall a little over a year ago with my partner, I saw Chris very quickly & I have to say the doctors here are 1000% better than in Portsmouth. He is a great doctor who listens and gives the best medication and advice I could have ever ask for.When I was unwell I was admitted to hospital straight away and with in an hour of me being there I saw a doctor and was put on a different medication and this worked and by day 4 I think it was I was back home. Totally awesome & brilliant. Highly recommend Chris and his team.
