I did not feel listened to or informed, and I certainly did not trust this doctor, who seemed to be very eager to shut off my questions and highly impatient during our meetings.

Christiane is incredibly easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. She answers messages promptly which really helps and letters to the gp are done extremely quickly. I finally feel like I have found someone that cares about my well-being.

Profile

I originate from Berlin where I trained at the Free University Berlin. I qualified as a Psychiatrist, Neurologist and Psychotherapist, obtained a research doctorate and worked as a clinician in in- and out-patient settings. In 1997, I moved from Berlin to London. I joint the NHS and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Since then, I have worked as a consultant psychiatrist in general adult psychiatry, rehabilitation services, and crisis services in London and Essex. I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of people with a range of mental disorders, including those that are in acute crisis. A specific focus of my clinical practice has always been the treatment of patients with anxiety and mood disorders, using different therapeutic approaches.

Alongside my clinical work, I have been part of research groups studying bipolar affective disorders, psychological trauma, and verbal and non-verbal communication between patients and clinicians. Some of the research was conducted in collaboration with the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry at Bart’s and the London School of Medicine.

My way of working reflects my background as a psychotherapist. I emphasise working with my patients on a shared understanding of their psychological problems so that we can arrive at personalised solutions. Consultations can be conducted in English or German.
