I met Dr Chinga Chileshe at the start of her early morning shift (7am?) on 7 September 2020 in Addenbrookes A&E. I had been admitted around 11pm the night before following a blackout and fall at home. I was 73 years old. This was right in the middle of the Covid pandemic lockdown. She came into my cubicle to assess my neck femur fractures. I had no idea that I would be diagnosed with severe osteoporosis at a later stage. She was really attentive and phoned my husband with all the information about my fracture and where I would be stationed later in the hospital. It was hoped I would have surgery around 5pm but sadly it was not possible then. The following morning, Tuesday 8 September, I went down for surgery at 11am and Mr Graham Keene and team carried out DHS surgery. Dr Chileshe was part of a three doctor geriatric medical team with Dr Madhavi Vindlacheruvu and Dr Yen Jiri(?). They were so cheerful and positive and helped me through a very difficult painful time. However in a week, following excellent surgery, nursing and Physio, I was able to go home. The fracture clinic is working so well in support of patients like me. Thank you so much everyone. You were and are amazing. We are so fortunate to have CUH and staff. Linda Travis

I was a Canadian visiting Cambridge in the summer of 2022. In August, I fell and broke my hip near the Guildhall. Dr Chileshe just happened to be in town that day and ,on her way home, saw me fall. She determined that the wait for the ambulance could have been as long as 6 hours. Chinga called her partner, who came into town, and drove me, my husband and Chinga to Addenbrooke's. She shepherded me into A and E, and kept an eye on what happened to me in the following 7 days. Without her and her extraordinary care, the outcome of my accident would have been a wholly different story. I will be forever grateful to her for her care and kindness.

What a lovely lady! I was recently in Addenbrookes with a broken patella. She always took time to explain to me what was going to happen and when. She’s utterly dedicated.

Dr Chinga Chileshe introduced herself to me in Addenbrookes A&E. she clearly explained who she was and what her role would be in my recovery. She and her team in Trauma & Orthopaedics gave me a thorough Investigation through my bloods and in reviewing my prescribed medication. She filled me with great confidence and explained what was going to happen to me following surgery and kept me informed of where I would be going once a bed on her specialist ward was available.
