I think the most important thing for me was I felt listened to. And didn’t feel as though I was talking to someone with no time who was nodding whilst typing notes into their computer. Dr Vasta made eye-contact, summarised my responses, and included me, leaving me feeling confident in my treatment because she had listened to me.

I have been seeing Dr. Vasta over the last 3 years and can hopefully continue to see her for the foreseeable future. She has a very efficient and helpful secretary who makes the process of booking an appointment and dealing with the administration so much easier. I had been suffering from pains in my joints, difficulty in walking and using my hands, fatigue, brain fog and severe anxiety for about 6 years. I had seen 6 different GPs who said they did not know what the problem was and could not help me. Eventually I was referred to an NHS Rheumatologist who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. His last words to me were, and I quote "the good news is that we have met, the bad news is that we will never see each other again". By this stage my health problems had destroyed my career, my hobbies, I could no longer drive and no longer felt able to talk to doctors. The whole experience of trying to get a diagnosis and then find out what this condition meant to the life of my wife and I was frightening. Unfortunately the NHS does not have the time and funding to give people the support they need when the condition is complicated. The only way I could get a specialist who could track my progress over the years and be available if the condition suddenly changed was to use private health. I also wanted to know that if my health declined further my wife would have someone she could rely on for advice and support. Dr. Vasta is very professional, however she is also very approachable. She has a caring attitude and is easy to talk to. She listens and understands, gives an accurate report on what is discussed and recommends a clear way forward for your treatment. It is reassuring to know that I can have the support of someone who is so well qualified and experienced.
