I have been seeing Dr Mitchell since I was 14 years old and have refused to see anyone else ever since as she is fantastic! First of all, she never dictates or patronises me but always treats me with respect as if we are a team working to find solutions to my health problems together. Secondly, she always listens carefully to what I have to say and takes time to answer my questions, even if it does make my appointment slightly longer. Finally, she always respects my concerns and my desire to take responsibility for my own health and try more than one solution, even if it's not the original one that she suggests. E.g. I'm currently on medication for chronic nerve pain in my back and she suggested that I increase the dose to help to relieve the symptoms but said that she respected my reasons and choice to continue with exercise programme instead. I therefore always feel positive and empowered after an appointment with her. I feel very lucky to have such a great GP!
