Written by a patient at Cheltenham General Hospital

Dr Young was extremely abrubt, almost confrontational in her questioning, no compassion or empathy. It was almost as if she actively disliked me, even though she had literally just met me. Patients who see Dr Young are inevitably vulnerable and quite often suffering greatly. I felt like a burden, an annoyance, like I wasn't believed and like I was seen to be beneath her. I really don't think you should be in a patient (especially vulnerable patients) facing role unless you can at least manage to act in a vaguely compassionate manner. I have never complained about any member of NHS staff before, I feel so grateful for the help that I get from our health service. Not am I going to complain officially about Dr Young, I am more upset than I am angry. I feel crushed by her attitude towards me, as dramatic as that sounds. Please, if any doctors are reading this, please recognise that some patients can be severely affected by how you speak and relate to them. I believe I may have to see Dr Young again at some point and I am dreading it to the point of weighing up whether I would rather continue in pain than have to be seen by her again.
