My wife had never had an operation but had a very bad experience with anaesthetics following a difficult childbirth 30 years ago, so was very nervous about that aspect. Dr Summors listened to her story with understanding and sympathy, then had a detailed discussion with her about the nature and type of anasthesia which he proposed to use on her. As this was to be a long and serious operation he also incorporated analgesic incorporation in the "cocktail" to assuage pain for 24 hours after the operation. She was comforted by his informed and considerate explanation, and everything went to plan as he envisaged.
