I asked for a doctors appointment for my 5 month old daughter who had been in pain over the xmas holidays with reflux. She had been struggling with feeding, stuffy nose and crying in pain. As soon as the surgery was open on Monday after the holidays I called to make an appointment for that day. I Waited on hold for over 30 minutes for Dr Foster to tell me my daughter didn’t need care and I could to a doctor on Thursday. I explained my daughter was in pain and I would like her to see somebody today. He refused to give me an appointment as he didn’t feel it was urgent. I said as a tax and national insurance payer I feel I am entitled to get an appointment to a Dr for my ill child. His words while shouting “ for goodness sake, going to pull the tax payers card are we, for goodness sake” “fine have an appointment” I asked for his name and he refused to answer and put the phone down. I had to call the surgery back to find out the name so I could make a complaint. It’s unacceptable in any line of work to speak to someone like that. Never mind a mother who is worried about a sick child. His bedside manner needs serious review and he obviously has a short temper.
