I’ve had 2 appointments with Dr Barr and drove a fair distance for these, but can say with confidence that it was well worth the travel time. In these appointments I was able to discuss concerns about inflammatory arthritis at length and Dr Barr was able to focus these, suggesting appropriate further investigations. At the follow up appointment, he went through my MRI in detail, which provided valuable reassurance. He was able to connect my various symptoms together and provide some helpful advice on next steps. I had a few questions and didn’t feel at all rushed. He was highly knowledgeable, thorough in his approach and his answers were pitched at the right level for me, as someone from a non-medical background. I forgot to mention a couple of things so used the post-consultation support and a phone call was arranged to discuss these, which was also really useful. Overall I’d highly recommend Dr Barr for his lovely manner, expertise and patient-centred care. Thank you!

I am writing to offer some personal and professional feedback following my recent rheumatology consultation with you. From the outset, I was struck by the time, care, and attention you gave to my appointment. You took a full hour to explore my medical history in detail, including my family history, and did so in a way that felt thorough, thoughtful, and genuinely patient-centred. As a fellow healthcare professional, I am acutely aware of the pressures on clinic time, which made this even more meaningful. You answered all of my questions clearly and comprehensively, undertook a careful and holistic assessment, and ensured that I felt listened to and well informed throughout. Importantly, you validated my experience and provided a clear diagnosis, something I have been hoping for during what has been a prolonged and challenging two-year rehabilitation journey with my knee. This has given me clarity, reassurance, and renewed confidence to move forward with my recovery. I also wanted to share how impressed my mum was following the consultation. She commented on how thorough, kind, and attentive you were, and how reassured she felt by the time you took to explain everything clearly. This meant a great deal to both of us and further reflects the care and compassion you bring to your practice. Your approach demonstrated not only excellent clinical knowledge, but also a high level of empathy and respect for the patient experience. The combination of expertise, communication, and compassion you showed made a significant difference to me both professionally and personally. Thank you for the care, time, and consideration you gave during our consultation. It is very much appreciated.

Not one to normally leave reviews but the exceptional service from Dr. Andrew Barr has compelled me to write this review. I can honestly say he is one of the best doctors I have seen in recent times. From the moment I met him I was made to feel welcome, cared for and listened to attentively! He discussed my case in amazing detail and kept checking if I had understood/had questions etc. My own family is in the medical profession so I understand what's normally covered when assessing patients. All in all I felt extremely satisfied with the consultation I received..Nothing was rushed or too much to ask. I highly and whole heartedly recommend him.

I saw Dr Barr privately after being advised by my menopause doctor to see a rheumatologist. Dr Barr is AMAZING. I hope he gets to read this review because he is the nicest doctor I have ever seen. (And I’ve seen a lot being early menopause)! I wouldn’t hesitate to see him again in the future or recommending him to other people. He did such a thorough examination and then on follow up with results he talked me through them fully and put my mind at ease. Thank YOU so much!

We can not thank Dr Barr enough for his kindness, warmth, reassurance and an extremely thorough examination and well thought out plan. He has well and truly gone over and above and has provided exemplary care to us/ my son. We cant thank him enough - he is so knowledgeable and thorough and from the second he greets you, you feel in such good hands in what is a very stressful time with health concerns. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Thank you doesn't do it justice but thank you so much from us all.

I saw Dr Barr about my diagnosis of Polymyalgea Rheumatica which had potentially complications possibly involving blood cancers. He was extremely helpful. He undertook a detailed physical examination, scrutinised the various blood test results and asked a variety of probing questions relating to my condition. He listened very carefully to everything I said and took pains to explain fully what he was doing and why. He provided a clear way forward as to treatment and has undertaken reviews at various stages of my recovery. It was quickly apparent he was very expert in his field and inspired complete confidence in his management of my condition. I have no hesitation in recommending him very highly.

After getting frustrated with the glacial pace of the NHS system I decided to go to the Leeds Nuffield hospital after having significant joint related pain amongst other muscle related issues for years. Andrew was extremely supportive, knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I now have a comprehensive post consultation plan that will help me immensely. I can't recommend Andrew enough.

I saw Andrew Barr last August and further to my previous review I would like to add how his input made a huge difference into my diagnosis. I had like many people not had a good time in the NHS with other Rheumatologists. After seeing Andrew Barr I was seen at Sheffield teaching hospitals and accepted by the National ehlers Danlos genetics team for testing. I have very recently found out I have a rare disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta and this has been missed for many years by many doctors. I am so grateful I managed to see Andrew Barr as he Definitely influenced other specialists to investigate further and take me seriously. It has made such a difference as I now am under specialists who can help. A huge Thankyou Dr Barr.

My wife had an inflammatory arthritis and was severely affected, Dr Barr was the most thorough doctor I have yet seen and had a fantastic manner. He diagnosed and treated my wife on the day of the consultation and my wife recovered fully and quickly, without Dr Barr's intervention she would have been suffering for much longer. I cannot recommend him more highly. He has great skill and knowledge and completely put us at our ease. He was then contactable and gave great post consultation support and advice.
