I had my annual appraisal with Dr Tocca. Dr Tocca was thorough in his appraisal, sensitive in his approach and construtctive in his comments. He gave useful advice and guidance and made the experience enjoyable. He was flexible and accomodative in arranging the two appointments which was very helpful. My overall experience of the proccess was very positive and I have no hesitation in recommending him as an appraiser.

As a junior trainee under the supervision of Dr Tocca, I was impressed by his level of care towards his patients, and he has become a trusted role model. I found it easy to achieve all my learning outcomes, including being given repeated opportunities to interview, risk assess and manage patients. He was an excellent pastoral tutor and made sure all my needs were met, and went over and above his duty to proactively ask if I was happy and was achieving my goals. In a specialty with a very high risk component, I was often uncertain of management, but Dr Tocca appeared to follow a logical and risk averse approach to his patients, and from this I learnt how to be a safe practitioner and how to consult colleagues in an MDT approach for relevant care pathways. In summary, Dr Tocca is a kindly, considerate and well-balanced psychiatrist, whom his patients and colleagues should trust and respect as is his merit.

I had been trying to get help for 8 years but was passed off from one person to another, all saying i had mild depression, i got so sick i tryed to kill myself so they sectioned me, then this guy saw me twice, the first time he explained i had a couple of disorders and explained certain coping mechanisms. the second time he had done more reaserch on my background and it was like he was reading what was going on in my head. I would not be alive today if it was not for this guy. Im doing great now and taking things as they come. i would give this guy a 10/10 for what he did for me.

Demonstrates a high degree of empathy and compassion for his patients. Presents as the antithesis of the traditional doctor stereotype- humourous, warm and engaging with a willingness to listen.
