I was admitted on 7/12/23 for a shoulder arthroscopy under Mr Phil Ahrens. As I was extremely anxious Dr Pawa was extremely kind and patient and explained the anaesthetic in detail. Thank you!

Dr Pawa anaesthetised me for a partial knee replacement at the Cleveland Clinic on 10.10.23 with Prof Justin Cobb as surgeon. Beforehand he explained my options, and how they worked, more clearly than any previous anaesthetist I have encountered. My slow reaction to the spinal block did mean some discomfort during the insertion of the first few regional blocks, but this was brief. Thereafter I felt no pain or discomfort for four days after the operation. He used Experal (Liposomal Bupivicaine) which I understand can help provide such a long period of relief. Though I took paracetamol and ibuprofen during this period, I made limited use of morphine (which I may not have needed) and none of any stronger opioid. Having not enjoyed general anaesthetics in the past, I found Dr Pawa's approach offered me a remarkably easy experience post-surgery. He was happy to discuss everything at length. I found him highly competent and reassuring.
