I had chronic sciatica and visited Mr Khan privately, had an MRI scan and X-ray. The diagnosis was Spondylolistesis, stenosis and a cyst. Mr Khan spent a considerable time with me and my wife explaining the options for limited and full surgery, and we opted for a full surgical solution. I transferred to NHS care and the operation took place in late January 2019 at LGI, in the full knowledge that there was a long recovery period which may be very uncomfortable. During the operation it was found the cyst was attached to the nerves, and the careful surgery took 4.5 hours. The recovery team were very good and I was discharged on programme. There have been issues to deal with - the Pregablin and Dihydracodiene medications both caused serious constipation both before and after the operation. Post operation I had quite a lot of pain from the oblique muscles. The wound took a long time to heal. But in all cases Mr Khans' team were available and very helpful. Now, three months on, pain is very much a receding issue, I am walking up to three miles a day. The post op X-rays and review were very positive. The greatest difficulty is refraining from lifting, twisting and bending, of which I will have to remain conscious for months to come! Our overall view of the process can be summed up by my wife, who walks beside me muttering "It's a miracle". I now walk upright and in the last week without a walking cane. Well done Team and grateful thanks to Mr Khan and his surgical skills. Anyone who needs this type of treatment should place their trust and confidence in his advice and look forward to the best outcome possible. Kind regards Keith Philpott
