A busy clinic and a complex history but Professor Birtle was the first physician I had met after 6 long months of multiple investigations who took the time to rationalise all these different elements into a clear and coherent history and strategy. I am very grateful and more optimistic than I had been.

In 15 years of immersion in the NHS health care system, I’ve never met such an affable, caring, professional, thoughtful and dedicated clinician. The first appointment was a such a positive, reassuring experience for my partner and I. Every question I arrived armed with was answered without me even asking! Her Specialist Nurse, Andrew Hunnisett was also superb and has been very attentive since our first meeting. I feel I’m in the best hands possible and have every confidence I will make a complete recovery under Professor Birtle’s five star, gold standard care. Thank you!

I received a clear concise appraisal of the facts surrounding my diagnosis and the way forward. Any questions I asked were fully answered, and I was asked if I understood and was happy with the answer. Throughout the consultation I felt Alison and her two assistants were very professional, but at the same time warm and compassionate. I now have a much clearer picture of what my treatment will be, and what the future holds.

I saw Professor Birtle on 19th October 2021. She took the time to explain everything about my diagnosis thoroughly and clearly. I have so much respect and confidence in Professor Birtle. She has taken a big weight off the shoulders of myself and my partner in the knowledge that I will now get the best care possible. I really can’t recommend her highly enough. Andrew Hunnisett Oncology CNS is the specialist nurse that works with Professor Birtle, I met him at my first appointment and have spoken to him a couple of times since. He is very knowledgable, approachable and helpful.
