Professor Birtle was both sympathetic and empathetic to my needs . With a cancer diagnosis anxiety becomes part and parcel of the package. The Professor was both reassuring and understanding of this. In her review of my condition I learned some new things and felt reassured and confident that she will do her utmost to help me through this . Her analysis was concise, coherent and constructive and “Things” have moved quickly since my meeting- I like efficiency! and this has only served to enhance my thoughts about Professor Birtle and her professionalism . I should like to take this opportunity to thank the whole oncology team at Rosemere from the first face you see in reception to the nurses and Radiologists and of course to the Professor for their efforts on my behalf .

Prof Birtle was excellent in my consultation, I got more out of this appointment and more help than other consultations at different sites. Prof Birtle gave a clear way forward for care and not just treatment plus several actions I can do myself to help manage symptoms. I came away feeling positive rather than frustrated which can be the result sometimes.

We were very impressed that she considered my husbands whole body ailments and lifestyle not just the prostate cancer. We had previously been under a different doctor and felt that we weren't getting a full picture and that there had only eve been one option. We left her office feeling that we were moving forward and wished that my husband had been under her care from the beginning of this journey.

I met Professor Birtle for the first time on Monday 5th October in Westmorland General Hospital. She immediately made me feel completely at ease. Her approach was friendly, professional and reassuring. The manner in which she explained the proposed radiotherapy treatment, for which I have been referred, was both thorough and yet easy for a layman to understand. I feel privileged to be put under the care of such a knowledgeable and caring oncologist .
