Dr Steel provided fantastic care and support during a difficult time with my health, and my new diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. I had 6 weekly appointments with Dr Steel to get my condition under control and I always found him kind, attentive, incredibly supportive and the most understanding person I’d encountered on this difficult journey. He truly understood and empathised with my experience and I felt he was the only person who understood how unwell I’d been and how much the illness impacted on my life / work and relationship. His treatment advice and rationale evolved based on my experience and changing symptoms. He took the time to explore options and managed to find a plan that worked well. I will always be grateful for his care.

I have had yellow coloured stools and other stomach problems for about a year now and my other symptoms are not improving. I saw Dr Steel for the first time and he wasn't too bad. After my endoscopy which came back fine however he stopped listening and was incredibly dismissive. He made me feel like a hypochondriac. He said to me that he would do not me more test but if that was fine then that was that. He made it totally sound like he was only doing it because I wanted it. He questioned why I had started taking probiotics, I answered because I wanted to try something to make the symptoms better. He smirked. He even sent a letter to my doctor saying ' she's low in iron give her iron tablets' but no results came with it. I wrote him a direct email asking for results and still never received them. I was incredibly disappointed and am still having ongoing symptoms. Would never ever see him again.

After being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis years ago up north, i was naturally worried about moving to London and having to change consultants (even though the one up north was useless!). I needn't have worried- Dr Steel and his team are amazing, he is very approachable and really listens to patients and also explains what is going on. I am actually flare free for the first time in years and i d think part of this is due to the care i have received by Dr steel and his team. I have regular tests (something i never had up north) and while i sometimes see a member of Dr Steels team or the IBD nurse, i have always received the same high quality care. I completely recommend Dr Steel and Chelwest hospital and believe im getting the best care in the country!

Not sure I would be here today without Dr Steel and his team. He is very compassionate, very expert and cares a lot about his patients.
