Dr Jain is a great paediatrician. He clearly cares about the children he sees, and he listened carefully and respectfully to me as a mother. He made further referrals when he wanted another opinion and kept my daughter under his care until he was happy she had sufficiently developed past her food intolerances. He has a positive and friendly demeanor. I recommend him as a paediatrician.

We met Dr Jain when my child was admitted with anaemia at the Royal London Hospital in August 2021. At a very stressful time for us, his positive energy, and calm and friendly approach helped calm our nerves. He was very clear in explaining the treatment plan and was very patient in answering any questions we had. He followed us up with a telephone consultation in December 2021, and again I have only positive things to say. His caring nature really shines through and he is a real hero!

My 13 year old daughter was looked after by Dr Jain during her stay at RLH. Dr Jain listened to our concerns and put us at ease at all times. We were truly amazed when Dr Jain told us that he had been thinking about our daughter and the best course of treatment for her even during his time off. Dr Jain is always smiling and puts everyone at ease. Thank you again for everything. God bless you

Profile

I am Dr Akshaya Ashok Jain and currently work as a consultant General Paediatrician at the Royal London Hospital in London.

I qualified to become a doctor and completed my MBBS degree in Mumbai in 2000 . I have been working in paediatrics since 2001 in Mumbai and then moved to the UK in 2003.

I passed my paediatric membership exam- MRCPCH in 2005. I completed my certified training in Paediatrics in London as a junior doctor between December 2003 to September 2012 after which I received my certificate of completion of training-CCT.

I trained to be a General Paediatrician with interest in paediatric gastroenterology in London.

My first NHS consultant post was at Barts Health at Royal London Hospital from April 2014 to September 2014 as a locum General Paediatric Consultant followed by six months at Homerton University hospital as a loum General paediatric Consultant from September 2014 till February 2015. I moved back to the Royal London Hospital in March 2015 to take up a post as a Locum general paediatrician with interest in paediatric gastroenterology and then was appointed as prmanet full time General Paediatric Consultant in March 2016.

I worked in Mumbai in a really busy children's hospital-B J Wadia hospital and then training at the Royal London hospital, Whitechapel, London which is a tertiary teaching hospital as a junior doctor. This has given me the opportunity of gaining invaluable experience in managing variety of complex cases both in the acute as well as outpatient clinic setting. This has held me in good stead as a Paediatric Consultant at the Royal London Hospital as evidenced by my appraisals and references. I bring this breadth of knowledge and experience to BMI The Cavell Hospital in Enfield where I am delighted to consult infants and children with their parents in a really relaxed way in the outpatient clinic. Being a General paediatrician has given me this amazing experiece of effectively managing all type of paediatric cases involving any system of the body or any age from first day of life upto 16 years

Being a father of 2 delightful kids has definintely made me a better paediatrician and I do feel I can understand and correlate to many of the queries or questions a parent might go through or ask.

My academic interests include
a- Being the College Tutor for the paediatric trainee's
b- Conducting the paediatric membership training course at the Royal London hospital since January 2015. The course website is www.royallondonmrcpchclinicalcourse.co.uk.

I have been involved in a lot of management activities and Quality improvement projects including improving the Outpatient department and reducing the number of DNA's, day to day running of the junior doctors rota and maximizing its efficiency and delivering effective and efficient induction to the junior doctors.
