Dr Abdul Gatrad

We were so happy that we chose Prof Gatrad from the Insurer’s approved list. He is.not only an expert in his field but he is so caring and understanding too. Nothing is too much trouble for him and we never felt rushed as he made us feel at ease and took time to answer all of our questions thoroughly. He put us on the right path in to getting a diagnosis for our daughter and we know that should we need him again, he is only a phone call away: We owe so much to him. Thank you Prof Gatrad.

We owe a lot to Dr Gatrad. He put us on the right path to saving our son when other specialists and GP's missed key signs of Leukaemia in our 3 year old. Dr Gatrad quickly identified the symptoms. He was clear, honest and compassionate with us, took immediate action referring us straight to A&E with instructions of what we needed to do next. He has kept in touch with us since to see how we are doing as a family and our sons progress. Dr Gatrad is a truly exceptional person and professional.

My daughter has been experiencing issues with her vision for several weeks. We have recently attended GPs, Opticians, the New Cross Eye Infirmary and a Pediatrician. These have proved inconclusive and we were advised to seek another opinion from a Pediatrician. We initially chose Professor Gatrad based on his extensive experience and areas of specialisms. I called and spoke to him directly, and his caring and attentive nature were immediately evident, furthermore he arranged to see our daughter the same day despite his clearly busy schedule. Professor Gatrad spent a long time examining our daughter, and explained very clearly his lines of questioning, his findings and very helpfully explained what would happen going forward. His knowledge and experience needs no further comment as others will have expressed this, but what is so special in our opinion is that he is able to put parents and children at ease, formulates a clear approach and in essence conveys a sense that there is a trusted advisor navigating the medical landscape on your behalf. He takes ownership, is reassuring and equally honest, highly articulate, and transparent with his approach. Whilst currently we are still in the process of determining the nature of our daughter's specific issues, Professor Gatrad has referred us to another leading colleague, and tellingly however he still wishes to be kept informed of our progress which speaks to his high sense of responsibility to his patients. Looking at his global humanitarian achievements is nothing short of inspiring, and it is no wonder he has been awarded so highly in official terms. I would have total faith in Professor Gatrad and would not hesitate to recommend him to any parent.

Professor G takes his time to fully understand the issues and needs of his patients. We have been going to the Professor for many years and he has resolved issues my daughter has had that GPs failed to deal with. I highly recommend Prof G , he is highly experienced, makes everyone feel comfortable. Speaks on a level that parents and children understand. You can you are in the best possible care with Prof G. Great Compassaion , Empathy , Effective Communication. What more could you ask for. Keep up the great work Professor.

Professor Gatrad saw my daughter 12 in his office when she had severe constipation and compaction, his kind and calm manor but us at ease straight away, his knowledge and guidance was outstanding. He saw her straight away and gave us indepth guidance, the same day, she was suffering for over a week with no improvement, after seeing him and using the guidance and treatment he gave us she was back to her normal smiling self. He kindly followed up with her treatment and she was a completely different girl, back to school and smiling again. Can't thank and recommended him enough.

Professor Gatrad treated our 14 year old son when we required blood tests to identify the cause of a period of jaundice in him. We were immediately struck by his kind, calm, yet confident nature and we believe we received exceptional care from him. He was thorough in his testing for our child and repeated tests as necessary, in order to give us a full picture of our son’s health. As a result of this, a condition was picked up incidentally, which we would otherwise have been unaware of. We thank Professor Gatrad for his care and would not hesitate to contact him again if our son should require it.

Professor Gatrad set us on the path of helping our youngest daughter who had complaints of stomach aches and upsets for over two years. We only saw the professor in July 2025 and we have by September seen a marked difference in her we being and health. His practical, deeply knowledgeable and most targeted advice was taken on board and we are so pleased to say that our daughter is so much better. We had seen a plethora of other medical people prior, yet his advice has been most effective. It says it all. As parents we are so very grateful.

We have had a very difficult few years with overlapping health issues with both our children. Professor Gatrad has been a tremendous help at critical points throughout this journey. We have been particularly impressed by his extensive experience and diagnostic acuity along with the compassion and genuine concern he always shows. Despite the fact that his time is in high demand we have never felt rushed. As a family we would recommend Professor Gatrad to any parent.

My daughter came to see Professor Gatrad at his office, having received a diagnosis of anaemia. She was very anxious but he put her completely at her ease, listening carefully and compassionately to her. The expert advice he gave and medicines he recommended have been central to her recovery.

I have nothing but praise for Prof. Gatrad, he is a breath of fresh air and I am so glad that we got to see him for help with my daughter. He made us feel at ease, gave us his time and attention and never once made us feel like our concerns were trivial. He listened and addressed every concern and gave us clear instructions and reasoning for the plan. Thankfully he has helped us navigate our daughters cows milk allergy and has truly been a beacon of light in what initially felt like a very dark journey. He not only supported us in our daughter’s care but also took the time to ensure that we as parents were managing too. Despite being very busy and with demanding patient lists, he was available to us when needed and always offered to speak with us at short notice.
