I am a 54 active female , during March 2021 I got out of bed one morning and couldn’t walk on my right leg , no trauma , no bumps just a pain in front of thigh , lower calf and foot numbness . Gp told me just persevere. I did persevere but by this time it had spread without reasoning to my left leg , I had lower back pain , pain in both thighs , groin and my calves felt full of razor blades ( it’s my only explanation ) I kept collapsing and was losing use of my bladder , I begged my gp twice for an mri as I wasn’t living , I was existing , I was also seeing a chiropractor who sent two urgent mri requests to my gp . In the end I could suffer no more and paid for a private mri scan at st Joseph’s and within days had met Mr Ash Khurana . From the start he listened which was very important to me as I felt unheard before this point . He didn’t colour in my prognosis as some things were past saving and that was fine by me as long as I could walk again without pain . I had the surgery at the royal Gwent hospital. Mr Khurana gave me back my life . The next morning after surgery the pain in my legs had gone . I got out of bed aided by physiotherapists and I could walk and had better balance and less pain than I did walking into the hospital . Two weeks post op , I’m safe on my feet but I’m aided by crutches for my own safety , very little scarring but this surgeon gave me back a life , a life I thought I could never get back . The first time i met this wonderful surgeon I told my husband I felt safe in his hands , he didn’t let me down and he exceeded my expectations . If I can answer or put anyone’s mind at rest who are a bit reluctant of surgery and that is the only option left , im here . I’ve been through it , im living it and I will keep you updated on it . Thankyou Mr Ash Khurana . I now get back to being in the centre of my very special family .

I was operated on in October 20 by Mr Khurana after severe back pain and numbness in both legs, the risks of the operation were clearly explained to me and Mr Khurana and his team fused my back at the L2/3 level. Immediately after the operation I had a slight complication and Mr Khurana stayed with me in recovery for several hours. It was much appreciated that Mr Khurana contacted my wife and appraised her of my condition as there was no visiting due to Covid.I was in hospital for 2 weeks and was kept informed throughout my stay.I’m now recovering and have had several out patient appointments and was seen by Mr Khurana each time. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mr Khurana and his team for the professional way they treated me and would highly recommend him as a top class surgeon.

Doctor Khurana performed a cervical discectomy and fusion on me on 28 June 2021, the operation went well and I was sitting up and walking as soon as possible after the operation. I met with him on my pre op assessment where he explained about the risks and benefits of the operation and also explained how I would be after the operation. I felt fully supported and had no doubt that I wanted the operation. He came to see me after the operation and said how well it had gone and also saw him in his clinic around a weekafter to have my stitches removed,he answered all my questions and advised when I would have a follow up apointment, I left feeling very positive. I am very grateful for what he has done for me and would recommend him 100%
