Wonderful service from from the moment we walked in. All the staff were top notch in their approach, were friendly and clearly experienced in dealing with children. Mr. Martin communicated clearly with me about what needed to be done and within half an hour a problem which had been haunting my five year old daughter for weeks (no thanks to a private practice who had been looking after her, but that's another story) had been resolved. Can't thank Mr. Martin and his staff enough.

Neil Martin has looked after my teeth for several years. He always discusses treatment, gives me advice and involves me in all decisions, bearing in mind my multiple health issues. As a wheelchair user I need premises with level access and large enough treatment rooms. The refurbished premises at St James Clinic are ideal and the staff are friendly and efficient. The biggest problem is parking. I always allow ample time prior to any appointment to find a space where I can park my Vito van which has a lift at the rear to enable me to load/unload my specialist wheelchair. On my recent visit I parked in a 'disabled' space which was not really adequate [but I had no choice]. On returning to my van after the appointment, I discovered that a car had parked behind me, completely blocking access. Fortunately I was able to trace the owner to move her car and allow me to escape. Therefore my 'constructive suggestion' is please continue to stress the need for adequate designated parking facilities.

Very sloppy. Did not allow enough time for gas to work before starting the procedure. The correct amount of gas wasn't used. No anaesthetic was used before the first needle was injected and he lied about the amount of needles he had to use. This is being taken to NHS complaints with possible legal action to come.

My husband is not fond of dentists. (Who is! ) but Mr Martin was so good with him and was able to put him at ease and now has had the treatment completed. Given that Colin suffers from Parkinson's Plus Syndrome this was no easy task. He was treated with kindness, great skill and now has great faith and trust in Mr Martin. Thank you so much.

Profile

I am on the General Dental Council Specialist list for Special Care Dentistry working at St James Clinic Northampton.

My interests include local anaesthesia, especially using the "Wand" device, and both nitrous oxide and intra-venous sedation.

I believe in a cradle to grave approach to special care dentistry. My caseload includes young children with extensive dental disease, those with anxiety toward dentistry, those with intellectual disability, patients with medically compromising conditions and those affected with neurological conditions toward the end of their lives.
