For some time I had pain/discomfort in my wrist and thumb. I made an appointment to see Mr Dafydd who confirmed it was De Quervain syndrome. I opted for an injection to try and ease the discomfort but it only lasted a few weeks. this was no surprise as Mr Dafydd did explain that would probably be the case but I felt it was worth a try. I then had a procedure to open the tendon sheath to allow better movement. This was carried out by Mr Dafydd in Morriston. As I have an ICD fitted we had to have cardiology involved, this was well organised and the procedure was done very quickly and painlessly. The procedure was fully explained and I opted to see the tendon moving freely after the sheath was opened. The procedure was carried out with great care and professionalism .

Hywel was wonderful. Very patient, polite, and great at explaining everything. I was always told what was going on and it made the whole process so much less stressful.

I had an operation on my hand for Dupuytrens and carpal tunnel. I am extremely pleased with the whole process, from start to finish. Mr Dafydd was fantastic. He has a lovely manner and clearly explained the procedure beforehand. He was totally honest about everything, which gave me great confidence in him. The actual operation (which Mr Dafydd said had taken longer than he had expected and proved to be quite complicated) was very stress free. Post-op he kept in touch, offering support when I needed reassurance during the healing process. He also arranged for me to see an excellent physio who kept Mr Dafydd informed of my progress. Four months after my op the outcome has surpassed my expectations and I am so pleased that I had it done.

I saw Mr Dafydd regarding a lump that I have had on my finger for 15 years. Mr Dafydd was superb and established all the necessary facts and advised that he could remove the lump following an X-ray to ensure that there was no attachment to the bone. He advised the next steps and what would happen in detail then arranged for my procedure. The lump was about the size of a pea which was removed under local anaesthetic and I felt absolutely no pain during or post procedure, even after the anaesthetic had worn off, and never had to take pain killers at all! I had a follow up consultation where Me Dafydd assessed the finger and applied new dressings. It’s healing superb and now looks like a normal finger again. Mr Dafydd even sent a message over the following weekend to ask how it was healing. Cannot recommend him highly enough -not only for his skills as a surgeon, but as a really genuine nice person. Many thanks again
