I was on vacation in Mauritius from the UK. Shortly after arriving I experienced significant visual distortion in my right eye and having a long history of eye problems including advanced glaucoma was very concerned I had a detached retina. I made contact with the clinic who were able to see me the same day. The diagnostic services I received were first class. Equipment was modern and diagnostics were comprehensive. Initial feedback from Abdullah was thorough and reassuring before Mr Carrim gave me some good advice and was able to tell me to enjoy the rest of my holiday. Thankfully the retina was not detached.
I’ve seen a lot of UK NHS eye facilities and this Port Louis practice was at least as good - perhaps better in ways. I would have no reservation in recommending the facility and they have my sincere thanks.

Taking an appointment is straight forward.

Very welcoming and caring staff. No complaints whatsoever. May be the staff could greet/acknowledge patients in the waiting room to make the process more pleasant instead of greeting them only when it is their turn to see the doctor.

Dr. Zia Carrim and all his staff, including Rawiha and Abdullah, are professional yet friendly and kind. We had an absolutely positive experience at this clinic. They use the latest technology. Dr. Carrim took extra time to speak with us, and his staff took their time to get to know us. We would highly recommend this clinic for the expert doctor and staff’s expertise and “human” treatment.

I was impressed at my first visit with Dr Z. Carrim. He took time to explain your eyes problems and solutions available. The surgery went well as this doctor is a firsthand specialist. Will gladly recommend this doctor to anyone with eye problems.

The clinic is well located in the Port Louis , easily accessible with parking space.
the waiting room is clean and comfortable and spacious
It has all the latest technologies and apparatus for eye care

I managed to get posterior uveitis which starts as a black spot covering part of your vision and can basically make you blind if not treated immediately. I thank it to Dr. Carrim’s long-standing experience which allowed him to immediately make the right assessment of the root cause (toxoplasmosis) at first glance. This enabled us to start the treatment right away in a scenario in which each day counts. The blood tests confirmed his assessment, and the result of the treatment is remarkable.
I am excited and thankful about the result and can highly recommend Dr. Carrim.
His dedication to his work and personal attention to the patient is remarkable. Admittedly somewhat biased as a German national, I was at ease to see state of the art German technology. The team makes you feel at ease, and I prefer the cozy atmosphere of this praxis to a large hospital.
If you have an eye issue, I can say from my own experience you will be in good hands at The Eye Clinic.

The staffs at the clinic were always very patient and helpful with the patient. They did not complain when appointments ran over their usual working hours and were always very humble.
