I found the process clear & easy to access & follow. I understand that the service is under extreme pressures right now, so yes there were periods of waiting. But I didn't feel that these were outrageously long. I was treated with kindness & understanding by all the professionals I had contact with. I received prompt responses to any queries. I feel that this has been a very positive experience for me.

Having sought the help of a psychiatrist who holds such a high position – as a council member of the prestigious Royal Society of Medicine – I had expected a level of empathy, compassion, and understanding that would surely befit such a status. However, my experience fell markedly short of these expectations. Throughout my session, I found this psychiatrist to be aloof, unsympathetic, and inattentive. Whereas previous professionals have listened with warmth and offered constructive feedback, this professional's demeanor was cold and dismissive. There seemed to be an alarming absence of the most basic human virtues one would expect from a healthcare professional – empathy and emotional intelligence. Given his esteemed position within the Royal Society of Medicine, I had anticipated a depth of knowledge that could provide a unique insight into my situation. However, akin to an academic detailing theory without context, his advice felt abstract and detached, missing the mark when it came to useful, actionable guidance. In addition, his lack of warmth and human touch left me feeling far from cared for, which, for anyone seeking psychiatric help, can be as detrimental as the lack of any professional advice. Psychiatrists, especially those in notable positions, should lead by example. In my view, he failed to uphold the ideals of professionalism, empathy, compassion, and understanding that the profession - and certainly his esteemed position - demands. In conclusion, if you're looking for a psychiatrist who provides sympathetic and compassionate treatment combined with experienced insights, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. This experience has taught me that a respected position does not automatically equate to exceptional patient treatment.

Titration thought PUK was a really good experience for me; I had frequent and pleasant contact with my prescriber, was provided with a BP monitor & have been able to have my medications delivered straight to my door via PPG. My consultant changed part way through my treatment, but my main point of contact was my prescriber so that didn't cause any issues. The only drawback for me is how long that waiting lists have been in the UK for ADHD treatment, this isn't something that can be helped by this service but it still something to mention.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. You have mentioned the waiting list for assessment/treatment. As an online service, we are usually able to offer shorter waiting times for patients than those provided by local services. Nevertheless, we are aware that some of our patients are having to wait longer than we would like, and we are continuously working to do everything we can to reduce waiting times, including ongoing recruitment of new staff and looking for new ways to streamline our processes. We are pleased to hear that you now have a treatment plan in place, and we wish you the best of luck in the future.

I used the clinic for ADHD treatment and have had a really good experience. I’ve felt informed and in control at each stage of the process.

Brilliant professional & caring service for anyone seeking a diagnosis for a neurodiverse condition as an adult, NHS or private. As someone on low income who relies on the NHS, I felt that I was treated wonderfully still and not in any way less than someone who might be a private patient instead. Where normally the waiting times for an ADHD assessment with the NHS would be around 2 years, I was seen within 5 months of being referred to Psychiatry UK. Everyone that I have spoken with associated to this service, from support staff to the doctors, has been incredibly helpful and kind and has made me feel validated. My appointment had to be rescheduled for another time on the same day but the communication around this was very considerate and clear which made this a much easier change. The assessment process itself was very easy, done over video chat and fairly quick. Even though it didn't take very long, I still felt very listened to during this assessment and had time to ask questions and elaborate on anything that I felt needed to be looked at more closely. After a little less than an hour of talking to my doctor, I was diagnosed and we already started talking about potential treatment plans. I am so very glad Psychiatry UK exists!

I didn’t give my consent to be taken off titration - I had no tried all the available medications and yet my doctors took me off. It took months for them to respond to me. Upon a review with the psychiatrist they agreed to re-refer me if I’m “so hell bent” on trying all medications. I wasn’t listened to, they were patronising and admitted that this was because of limited funding on the NHS. I had previously been on titration privately through Psychiatry UK and paid myself, this second time was through Right to Choose and I had such a different, negative experience. I now have to wait 7 months on the titration waitlist when if my doctors had listened to me I wouldn’t have been taken off at all and wasted my time waiting.

Thank you for posting a review to let us know that you are unhappy with our service. Although we are unable to look into your case here, we recommend that you contact our Patient Experience Team (experience@psychiatry-uk.com), who will be happy to look into the issues you are experiencing. We currently only offer ADHD assessment to NHS Right to Choose patients, but we pride ourselves on keeping our processes transparent and can reassure you that no preferential treatment is offered to private patients when available. All our patients are valued equally and will always receive the same level of care. We did, however, introduce a new model of working in February of this year, reducing the titration period to 12 weeks, rather than being open-ended as previously. This new model was introduced to try to reduce the wait for patients between assessment and starting titration. You can read more here https://psychiatry-uk.com/update-on-adhd-titration-service-for-our-adult-nhs-patients/.

I was seen by Psychiatry UK for an adult ADHD diagnosis. After a first assessment I was not given my expected diagnosis and recommendation by the Doctor. I raised my concerns to their team and somebody got into contact with me within hours. I was informed Psychiatry UK cannot offer second opinions, however I was granted another follow-up appointment to go into more depth of what I was experiencing. Following that appointment, I was given my official diagnosis. I am so thankful for the care and consideration of the staff at Psychiatry UK. I was treated like a person and not a case or number. Even though they do not have enough resources, their care was amazing. Thank you!

The process of titration was simple, I was lucky enough to find a medication that worked first tine, the effects have been honestly life-changing. I would never be able to afford this privately so it's so important that this is available with the NHS, Psychiatry UK have been fantastic.
